Outlander at Bannockburn House
Bannockburn House is proud to be one of the Scottish locations connected with Outlander: Blood of My Blood. With its atmospheric 17th-century interiors and real Jacobite history, the house offered an authentic setting for filming and now gives visitors the chance to experience that world for themselves. We are delighted to offer Outlander-themed tours as part of our visitor programme.
For fans searching for Outlander filming locations in Scotland, Bannockburn House offers something especially distinctive. The house not only has a screen connection to the Jacobite Risings, but a real Jacobite story of its own. Sir Hugh Paterson was married to the Earl of Mar’s sister, Jean Erskine, and fought at Sheriffmuir in 1715. During the ’45, Prince Charles Edward Stuart stayed here in 1745 and again in January 1746, when the house served as an important Jacobite base during the siege of Stirling. That means visitors can explore a place where dramatic television storytelling and real 18th-century history meet.
Whether you are an Outlander fan, a lover of Scottish history, or simply looking for unusual filming locations to visit near Stirling, Bannockburn House offers a rare opportunity to walk through a place where heritage, storytelling, and screen history come together. For those wanting to complete the experience, our shop also offers hand-knitted blue and brown traditional highland bonnets as well as handfasting gift sets – a lovely Jacobite-inspired keepsake for Outlander fans and visitors alike.
